Creating a Machine Data Source

 Note:

This topic explains how to create a data source for a Microsoft Access database for ODBC version 4.00.4202.00. When creating a data source for a different database (and perhaps when using a different ODBC version), the dialog boxes that are displayed may vary slightly from those shown here.

If no machine data source was previously created, the list is empty.

Click New to open the corresponding dialog box. Decide whether to create a File Data Source, which can be accessed only by the user who created it, or a System Data Source, which can be accessed by all users:

 Tip:

If you select System Data Source, be sure to enable the data source in the  The Security Activation Tool (CmSecure Program). If the data source is not enabled, all users except the specified user will be excluded during the Chromeleon Logon.

Select the Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) from the driver list, as described above. Clicking Next takes you to the next page. Click Finish to complete the creation of the data source.

This action returns you to the ODBC Microsoft Access Setup dialog box. Enter the name and a description, if desired.

Click Create and enter the name of the mdb file. Proceed as described in  Creating a File Data Source.
